Announcing: Open Figure Drawing Sessions This Summer
The North Shore Artists League is pleased to share an independent practice opportunity for our community’s artists, hosted by local artists Tim Vahle and Neil Sherman.
Starting June 8th, a series of uninstructed figure drawing sessions will be held on select Monday evenings. This is a wonderful opportunity to hone your observational skills, practice capturing the human form, and work alongside fellow artists in a casual, focused environment.
Session Details
Where: Cook County Community Center (Log Cabin Building), 317 W Fifth Street, Grand Marais, MN
Time: 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Cost: $20 per session (payable in cash onsite)
Format: This is not a class, but an open studio format featuring various timed poses ranging from quick 2-minute gesture sketches to longer 40-minute studies.
2026 Schedule (Mondays)
June: 8th, 15th
July: 6th, 13th, 20th
August: 3rd, 10th, 17th
Important Information for Attendees
A Note on the Sessions: To provide authentic academic practice, these sessions will utilize live models, which may include undraped (nude) modeling. Out of respect for the models and participating artists, these sessions are strictly for focused studio practice, and any drawing/painting media is welcome.
Whether you are looking to brush up on your anatomy drawing or simply want to enjoy a quiet evening of studio practice, all skill levels are welcome.
