I am a painter of expressive realism and open impressionism.

Extended Artist Statement

Every moment in life is marked by thresholds—the fleeting moments when what has been no longer fits and what comes next has not yet fully emerged. My paintings dwell in these suspended intervals, where light, weather, memory, and landscape echo our own experience of becoming. They are less about places than about presence, inviting the viewer to pause within the quiet tension of change.

My paintings are about the moment when change becomes inevitable. I paint the held breath before the exhale. I paint the threshold, not the destination. I am interested in the moment when the world quietly pivots.

My paintings dwell in the question: What does the world look like in the instant before it becomes something else?

I think of myself as both arranger and witness of these moments. I find this to be a remarkably rich place to spend a lifetime painting. - KFox
