I collect and connect words, images,fiber and on and on - something akin to a raven making a nest. Mine is eclectically cluttered. And fun@

Extended Artist Statement

For the last five decades, I have been a community news reporter, which I loved, but....That "but" is summed up in a haunting phrase that came to me in a dream, "Why do you discard your dreams? Why do you deny your visions?" Truth be told, I always loved to draw and paint, collecting paper, canvases, paints and bits of lace and fibers, over those decades. Collecting, but not using them. One night I began to put them all together on a small canvas which is in this show. Not all my pieces will mush together lace, driftwood roots, beads and paint, but will draw the viewer in. In J-school I learned how to hook a reader with spelling out the who, what, where, why and
how. With my visual art, I try to hook you with action, intrigue and surprise. My hero in modern art is Robert Rauschenberg and in literature is Kurt Vonnegut, with Margaret Atwood a close second. So there is more than a bit of a grin in my stuff. I hope you "get it."
