Description
Spirit: soul, vital force, life force. I painted this series to honor the animals—and trees, plants, rocks, water—that animate the natural world: the animals blend in with the environment and are at home. But spirits are also ghosts: we must cherish & protect them to keep them from becoming only ghostly memories of what once was.
There’s a story here: I think the bear is going to go fishing for salmon, and I think the bear will catch one. But I hope viewers see stories in these works, maybe stories that change, certainly stories that will be unique to each individual. I think this one has a fairy tale quality, but what happens next?
