Sanctuary - Holding the Line was inspired by the witness of faith leaders during the immigration debates of 2025–2026. As policies changed and long-standing protections for houses of worship were reconsidered, many clergy and congregations chose to stand—not always as barriers, but as companions, advocates, and guardians of human dignity. This painting KFox imagines that threshold where compassion meets conviction, asking what it means to hold a line that is not political, but profoundly human.  While a single figure anchors the scene, this is not about one person. It reflects something collective—the instinct to stand together, to protect, and to hold space for those at risk.   The outstretched arms form a boundary, but also a shared line—one held not by force, but by presence and conviction. Those behind are not separate from the act; they are part of what gives it meaning. Sanctuary is not only a place but a line we choose to hold. It is something we choose to create—together. -KFox
